Don't Touch It

"Don't touch it,

You'll break it"

And that's how it was

Blame and fault already assigned

Before I'd even started.

This was always such a strong parental message to me as a child (and not for spider's webs, but the image suited in my mind), along with "Don't, you'll ruin it". I'm sure this is why I get creative blocks, where I have an idea, but am unable to get it onto paper, because if I do, "I'll ruin it" and can't see beyond that at times. Despite everything I'm still doing my OU course and hoping to improve my essay average this time as I'm going to just concentrate on the task in hand rather than completing all the readings not covered by assignments. Maybe only half a picture but better than none at all xx

I have heard of a father who bought his son a toy car with the stern warning to his son not to do anything that might break the toy. Poor son but I think the father is poorer!

I do think this kind of attitude would likely stunt the growth of young people especially their creative potential.

Hope you will overcome such "blocks".

You and I do have some things in common. I want to leave my touch on life someday, and hope someone enjoys it.
Your writing brings me tears, followed by smiles. xx
