But terms used against me
By those who were supposed to love me
Mother, father, long ago ex-lover.
So how was I supposed to love myself
When those supposed to show me
Used such epithets
But I make mistakes to learn
That makes me wiser, not stupid.
And inside I know
They were said to hurt
And they did.
And on dark days,
They still do.
