The next day was cold but not raining, so after a full breakfast I went for a walk in St Stephen’s Green, the park in front of my guesthouse, and then along Grafton Street, the main shopping area in the central of Dublin. I walked slowly, as those along me walked briskly wrapped up in their ipods and/or nursing a cardboard covered cup of coffee as they walked briskly in their trainers to work.
The green was so beautiful with tulips the size of your hand and yet the other walkers appeared to be immune to their charms, like a song drifting but ignored. My camera and I captured the beauty that otherwise was escaping notice. Probably a different story at lunch-time but may be only as a backdrop for a snatched sandwich break from the computer.
Luckily the journey back with my friends was less stressed than the journey out and I got back in time to pick up our son from school. It was strange arriving at his school for a chapel service with minutes to spare thinking 3 hours ago I was in Dublin…
